The TriAmp has been Hughes & Kettner’s flagship model for years. After the MKII was released, it seemed there was nothing left to improve, yet somehow Hughes & Kettner have now made it even better! While it has a familiar look and feel, the TriAmp Mark 3 (MKIII) has a number of new features and upgrades. Of course, it still has three independent two-channel preamp sections for a total of six channels. The MarkIII now also has separate controls for each channel as well as three power amps on board. If that’s not enough, what about the built-in MIDI module, the Red Box AE, the Noise Gate and the tube monitor?

Hughes & Kettner TriAmp Mark 3: three versatile pre and power tubes
With pre and power tubes as well as six channels, this guitar amp head gives you a huge variety of possible sounds including typical American cleans, British leads, Brown Sound and modern high-gain. For each channel there are controls for volume, EQ and gain so that you can tweak your sound even further. There’s a Stomp Boost function for each channel too. The TriAmp MKIII comes with a pair of EL34 tubes and two pairs of 6L6 tubes in the power amp but works equally as well with other types including KT77, 655 and 7581. Each of the preamp channels can be assigned to one of the power amps or any combination of the three for 42 basic sounds at your immediate disposal.

Noise Gate, MIDI, Red Box and TSC
An adjustable Noise Gate built right in to the TriAmp Mark 3 keeps the high gain under control. This and all the other switchable options like the FX loop, the power amp selection, the channel selection and the Stomp Boost can be saved via MIDI on one the 128 memory slots. With the included TSM432 stage board they can easily be recalled, and thanks to the MIDI out they can be switched using external MIDI devices. Connecting a mixer or active PA speaker is easy too, using the Red Box AE DI box with built-in Ambience Emulation. Finally, the TriAmp Mark 3 is equipped with a Tube Safety Control that adjusts the bias of the tubes to improve their tone, stability and lives.
