Ashdown’s Head of Doom is Geezer Butler’s signature bass amp head. It was designed according to the legendary Black Sabbath bassist’s wishes and delivers classic, driven bass tones with 600 watts of power! There’s a 9-band EQ consisting of bass, middle and treble controls with sliders for controlling specific frequencies in between. Doom and Sub
The Doom and Sub sections on this amp head give you even more possibilities to make your tone stand out. Doom can be activated using the button on the front panel or via a footswitch and the amount of ‘doom’ can be controlled using the knob on the front panel. It increases the current to the 12AX7 preamp tube which enhances the harmonic distortion. Sub also has controls on the front panel and can be activated by a footswitch. This is a sub-harmonic generator that adds an octave below the notes being played which makes your bass parts sound even fuller.

Technical Ecstasy
If you want to emulate Geezer Butler’s live setup, you can do so thanks to the slave input and three slave outputs. That means you can use one Head of Doom amp head as a master and connect up to three other Head of Doom amp heads as slaves. Now all you need to do is connect two speaker cabinets to each amp head via the SpeakOn speaker outputs to enjoy the wall of sound produced by four full stacks! There’s a passive/active knob so that you can use a passive or active bass guitar and you can always add your favourite effects via the external FX loop. As you can tell, this amp head has almost everything a bassist could ever want.
