Rupert Neve Shelford Channel channel strip

There’s a good chance that your favourite records sound the way they do thanks to devices developed by Rupert Neve. The Shelford Channel can be seen as a ‘best of fifty years of Rupert Neve’-type piece of equipment. This channel strip consists of three sections: a transformer-based preamp, an equalizer based on the 5051 and 5052, and a compressor. The Shelford Channel puts a wide range of sound options at your fingertips. The output, for instance, is equipped with the Silk circuit so you can add some silky saturation to your signal.

RND Shelford Channel features
The preamplifier has been newly designed and electric and bass guitars can be connected directly to the DI section on the front of the unit. The microphone and line inputs are on the back. Together, the gain and trim section give you up to +72 dB! All the knobs turn in steps making it easy to find your favoured settings again and again.

Equalizer and compressor
The inductor equalizer is based on the Shelford 5051 and 5052 units and has low, mid and high bands that all have a range of -15 dB to +15 dB. The LF and HF bands can both be used in shelf mode or peak mode. As well as standard functions like threshold, ratio and timing, the compressor also has a few other handy extras. The hi-pass filter from the preamp section can be used as a side chain to limit the compressor’s reaction to low frequencies, for instance. An external side chain is also possible. You can even link two Shelford Channels together for stereo compression.
