Pioneer CDJ-3000

The news is finally and officially in! This is the dawn of the newest, most fresh-faced top-shelf mediaplayer from those unshakeable giants, Pioneer DJ. Say hello to the CDJ-3000. This player has finally discarded the infamous CD-drive and undergone a rigourous redesign to ensure its relevance in an age where the newest technological innovations actually happened yesterday. The first and most striking feature is the enlarged display, the re-positioning of eight physical hot-cues, and the convenient addition of a jogwheel display. The face of this ultra-modern player looks fully prepared to take on the future.

The CDJ-3000: A Solid Foundation
The Pioneer CDJ-Series has already dominated the DJ-world for years and is still the most common flavour of DJ gear you’re likely to find in the booth at a club, on a festival stage, or in pride of place in your mate’s living room. Since the ‘90s, Pioneer have spent all of their time and energy shifting with the times to ensure that their particular tech-of-the-moment gives all Djs exactly what they want. Skipping ahead to 2020, we get the CDJ-3000. An undeniably professional mediaplayer that’s fluent in the language of USB sticks, SD cards, and that will gladly couple with your laptop or PC and communicate with the holy-grail of all software-based music librarians, Rekordbox. This player compiles the perfect toolbox for the demanding DJ who needs the solid reliability of the biggest name in DJ gear on their side, whether playing a club set or trawling the festival circuit.

A Top-of-the-Line Mediaplayer
That this player is the follow-up to the CDJ-2000NXS2 is literally written all over its face. The Pioneer CDJ-3000 seeks to provide absolutely everything that the new DJ era demands while the foundation retains much of what came before, which is a little surprising when you consider the insane difference between the CDJ-1000 and CDJ-2000. But, in all honesty, this similarity only makes DJ-life easier since you’re spending less time getting to know how everything works. And, if you pick up one of these players, you also know you’ve got something future-proof since you’re assured of ongoing software support in the form of tasty tweaks and updates over the years to come. In that case, what you’re actually paying for is a mediaplayer with a comfortable and familiar interface that’s more than likely to work seamlessly with your current setup and that’s just as likely to continue to work seamlessly with whatever setup you have in the future.

A Refreshed Layout
The larger integrated touchscreen of the CDJ-3000 has forced some of the other controls to shift around a little. As such, the hot-cues have been moved and lined up beneath the display screen, and the loop section is now a little further to the left, and now includes an incredibly useful 4 and 8 beat loop button. The now traditional navigation button structure remains pretty much the same but has been nudged over to the right – almost exactly where the ‘CD Eject’ button used to sit.
