This Neumann classic features three switchable pickup patterns and a pre-attenuation feature. These properties make it perfect for a wide range of applications. The U 87 is the most famous and popular of all the Neumann studio microphones. This U 87 Ai is one of the leading microphones when it comes to orchestral recordings, spot miking for several instruments, and it can also be used for all manner of vocals and speech applications.

Specs of the U 87 Ai
It features a large double diaphragm capsule with three switchable pickup patterns – omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-8. You can switch between them via a switch beneath the head grille. A 10dB attenuation switch can be found at the rear of the microphone. The microphone can process SPLs of up to 127 dB without suffering from any distortion.
